My walk with Christ began at the early age of 6 when I went
into my pastor’s office and told him I wanted to be saved and baptized. Since
then my faith has gone through many changes as I have aged and experienced life
over the years. Recently (within the
past year and a half) I have started regularly reading my Bible, mediating, and
keeping my prayer journal. The changes
this has made in my life are invaluable.
I have created this section of my blog to share the things I learn as I continue
to my journey to become closer to Christ.
I have a few “go to” scriptures that getting me back on
track quickly when I feel my footsteps slipping:
Psalm
23
1The LORD is my
shepherd; I shall not want.
2He maketh me to
lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3He restoreth my
soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4Yea, though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art
with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5Thou preparest a
table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with
oil; my cup runneth over.
6Surely goodness
and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the
house of the LORD for ever.
Psalm
29
1Give unto the
LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
2Give unto the LORD
the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
3The voice of the LORD
is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.
4The voice of the
LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
5The voice of the
LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.
6He maketh them
also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.
7The voice of the
LORD divideth the flames of fire.
8The voice of the
LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.
9The voice of the
LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple
doth every one speak of his glory.
10The LORD sitteth
upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.
11The LORD will
give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.
Psalm 27
1The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?7Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
8When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.
9Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
10When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.
11Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
12Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
13I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
14Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Proverbs 3:3-5
3Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:4So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
