Weight loss...The Beginning....Again!!

Hey Folks!
So I thought it would only be fitting for me to add a post about my fitness and weight loss journey. So I had lost some weight but never really came close to my goal. I think I let life get in the way of my health. SO! Here I am with my goal of losing 45 pounds by the end of June.

I have decided to implement a marble system. I saw this idea on pinterest, you have two jars. One jar has a marble for every pound you want to lose. You move marbles from the first jar to the second jar when you have some kind of weight loss. So if I lost five pounds this week I’ll move five marbles from jar 1 to jar two. A constant visual reminder of progress made and progress still left.

I’ve also started working out for at least 1 hour and 30 minutes six days a week. I have started watching what I eat, attempting to limit my fast food, fried food, and sugar intake.
I’m excited to make my way toward a new, healthier me! So far I have 7 marbles in my second jar. 7 Pounds lost! Woot!!

Afraid of success?

So let’s have a real talk moment.

Growing up I heard many inspirational speeches that included telling people not to fear success. At the time I was like how crazy is that!?! How can someone want something positive and be afraid of it at the same time?! That must be a problem only crazy people have. Well, I must be the craziest person on the planet because I am now in that predicament.

I am gearing up for some major opportunities in my life and I have found myself struggling with some serious fear and doubt. At some points the fear was so real I just wanted to  give up and walk away. I thank God I have enough faith and sense to know that those thoughts and feelings are nothing but the devil!!

Over the last few days I have spent some time dissecting those negative thoughts and trying to determine where they are coming from. My conclusion: I am afraid of the unknown or the unknown that comes with success.  I have started to actively rebuke those negative thoughts in the name of Jesus!! I also saw a post on instagram that said: Decide, Commit, Succeed. So this week I decided on my goal, committed to it, and now I am going to succeed.

I was also watching Bishop TD Jakes’ service at the Potter’s House over the internet this morning and heard Dr. Marvin Sapp preach.  One of the things he spoke about was “holler until He hears you.”  The message was about knowing when and how to cry out for Jesus to hear you and move you out of your current situation and into what He has in store for you. This spoke to me personally as I am crying out for God to make major moves in my life so I can move on to my next step. I am prayerful that God will help me as I go through these next few challenges in an attempt to take this opportunity He has placed before me.

2013: A Change is Coming

Hello All!

It’s a new year and I have a new life plan! I have decided to start blogging again as a way to share my journey as a young women coming of age.

Just to get you all caught up on my life I graduated from college last December with a degree in business. I spent some time finding myself and figuring out what I wanted to do with my life. I spent a great deal of time applying for jobs that related to business. The more I applied for those jobs the more I decided I didn’t want to do any of the things required by the jobs I was applying for. So I started getting back into the habit of regular prayer and meditation. I also focused on figuring out my strengths and the things I truly enjoy. After a praying for God to lead me toward whatever path He intended for me it all just hit me, I want to teach!!!

Teaching is something that has been suggested to me for many years and I have always fervently refused and dismissed the idea. But it came to my attention that my love for kids and my desire to change the education system left me with only one option: entering the education system! Duh! When the thought of teaching first came to me I thought it was crazy and all of my family and friends would think I was out of my mind. But when I spoke to my dad about teaching the first thing he told me was, “Finally, what took you so long?!” I was shocked!! He said he always knew that is where I would end up. The rest of my inner circle had the same response. I was soo excited to have so much support! I have a wonderful family and some amazing friends! I’m just sayin!!

Now I will be honest, teaching in the classroom is only one part of my goal. I eventually want to go into administration. Maybe become a principal…who knows! I am not 1200% sure how I’m going to get there but I will definitely keep you posted. Now I am applying for some teaching fellowships.  My goal is to move to a new city this summer!

It’s all very exciting!! I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Talk to you soon!!
