Motivation Over Temptation

As I prepare myself to begin my challenge (Personal Challenge: No Fast Food, Sweets, or Alcohol for 40 days. January 9, 2012 to February 18, 2012…See label “My Journey”) I am exploring the reasons why my past attempts at weight loss have been failures. I have come to the conclusion that there are 3 main sources of failure: 1. No clear goal, 2. No preparation or planning, and 3. No defined motivators.

In an attempt to make these changes a part of a new lifestyle and not just a fad or trend for the moment I have come up with answers to all three factors.

1.      1.Goals: The first goal is to complete the 40 day challenge and the second goal is to lose a total of 40 pounds by the end of May.

2.     2. To plan for this challenge and new lifestyle I have eased myself off of the items I will be leaving out of my life. This has been difficult because I love anything with sugar as you may be able to tell from my recent blogs about desserts. With the end of the holiday season I am hoping I have had enough bad food to last me through the 40 days. As a backup I have also found several healthy substitutes that will help me satisfy cravings as they arrive.

3.    3. I have several reasons to want to get healthy, including
·         Living longer
·         Having more energy
·         Fitting into clothes I want to wear
·         Feeling more confident
·         A MILLION MORE REASONS!!!

I love making signs and graphics to place around my room to remind myself of all of the reasons to stay focused on my goals. I am hoping that with all of these measures in place I will be able to resist the sweet temptations of life and have a successful journey to a healthier me. Stay tuned and I will keep you updated on my progress!!

I hope you feel inspired to go on your own journey to find a healthier you!!
